Accessing the Secret Menus on the Breville Oracle Jet
Share
Did you know your Breville Oracle Jet has hidden service menus?
These secret modes—Self-Test Mode and Safe Mode—are typically used by technicians for diagnostics and troubleshooting. If your machine is acting up, accessing these menus can help identify issues before calling for service.
Here’s how to unlock them:
1. Self-Test Mode (Diagnostic Menu)
This mode runs system checks on pumps, flow meters, grinders, and sensors.
How to Enter Self-Test Mode:
- Turn off the machine at the power outlet (unplug it if needed).
- Open the steam wand fully (pull it all the way out).
- Insert the portafilter into the grinder and turn it fully to the right (as if to initiate a grind).
- Press and hold the Power button (keep holding).
- While still holding Power, turn the machine back on at the wall.
- Release the Power button once the logo appears. You should see a series of flashing lights —you should now be in Self-Test Mode.
🔹 Use this mode to check for hardware errors before calling support.
2. Safe Mode (Recovery Mode)
Safe Mode boots the machine with minimal functions, useful for troubleshooting software glitches or startup failures.
How to Enter Safe Mode:
- Turn off the machine at the power outlet.
- Open the steam wand fully.
- Press and hold the Power button (keep holding).
- While still holding Power, turn the machine back on at the wall.
- If successful, you’ll see flashing lights—this means you’re in Safe Mode.
🔹 Use this if your Oracle Jet is frozen or behaving erratically.
Why Use These Modes?
✅ Check for hardware faults (pump, grinder, sensor issues).
✅ Fix software freezes without a full reset.
✅ Avoid unnecessary service calls by diagnosing problems yourself.
